Phu Yen province was re-established on the basis of separating from Phu Khanh province according to the Resolution Vth session of the VIIIth National Assembly. The starting point is a poor, purely agricultural province (the proportion of agriculture accounts for 60%), 80% of households live on agriculture, while industry and services are underdeveloped, with low productivity and economic efficiency. After 30 years of re-establishment, Phu Yen has turned from a pure agricultural province, monoculture of rice. Up to now, the province's economy has strongly developed with economic growth at a fairly good rate due to the use of strategic advantages in terms of geographical location and climate. Economic structure shifted positively in the direction of increasing the proportion of industry - construction and service sectors, while agriculture was focused on large-scale development to promote scientific and technical advances in production. . Therefore, in recent years, Phu Yen has encouraged and called for investors to develop renewable energy projects and develop hi-tech agriculture.
